Hi! I'm Aleisha
Globetrotter & StorytellerTaking on the World, One City at a Time
Growing up, my family never travelled further than Burrum Heads, QLD to go camping for the September school holidays. I’d never had a passport, never left Australia. But man, my feet were itchy! So, a month after I turned eighteen, I boarded a flight to China on a trip that would change my whole life. For the first two months, I felt OVERWHELMED. I was suddenly a kindergarten teacher in charge of classes of thirty tiny children. Paired with culture-shock and a longing for home, the first two months were a struggle. But then something happened. I found my feet. I found some of the best friends in the world. I found my confidence. And I’ve been travelling ever since.
The Journey So Far
2018: I left my hometown and flew to China to live and teach for five-and-a-half months! This is where I discovered my tendency to miss trains 🙁 but also where I discovered my love for travel!
2018: After five-and-a-half months in China, I returned to Australia and got a job on Hamilton Island. By night I stocked shelves in the island supermarket, by day I frolicked around the island, crashing weddings (okay, they invited me) and watching sunsets.
2019: I ran away with the circus four months later and explored South Australia. For four months I travelled around SA, from Mount Gambier to Adelaide, trying to find the best iced chocolate in Aus, oh and informing the public that the circus was coming. It was one of my favourite adventures of all time!
2019: I left the circus to travel around Europe for two months living out of my backpack. This was my introduction to long-term hostelling, befriending strangers, and relying almost solely on Flixbus!
2019: When I returned I joined a Christmas Circus in Perth for two months. My friends from my first circus started a little Christmas show and asked me to be the Ringmistress! Of course I said yes. This was also my first time exploring Western Australia.
2020: I returned to Hamilton Island to work as a housekeeper!
2020: COVID! Unfortunately after one month Covid hit and I had to leave for a bit. But I returned while the island was closed to the public and helped to deep clean and prepare it for when guests returned.
2020 – 2022: COVID slowed me down but not forever. I swapped housekeeping pretty quickly to become a Host/Switchboard Operator on Hamilton Island. After a combined almost two years on the island, I got a job as a mining camp receptionist. It lasted for four months (have you noticed a trend) and then I left and travelled around Tasmania for two months.
2022: Because I loved travelling so much, I decided to try to become a pilot! I moved to Brisbane and only lasted three weeks once I realised the costs hehe. So, I put my head down, got a nice government job and started saving like crazy.
2023: In July of 2023 I ran away again! For Europe Round 2, mixed with a little bit of the Middle East. Four-and-a-half months of some of the most amazing, life-changing adventures of my life.
2024: TBC…

Love in the Skies: My Date with My Flight Attendant
In the summer of 2023, I touched down in Egypt for the first time. Over the span of nine days, I managed to belly dance on a river cruise in front of a hundred people, explore ancient tombs hundreds of metres below the earth, experience the chaos of the city of Cairo,...
How I Ended Up on the Best Date of My Life – Zhangjiajie
You know that phrase, “everything happens for a reason?” It plays a constant role in my life, periodically replaying in my head whenever something doesn’t quite go to plan. Missed that bus? You weren’t supposed to catch it. Failed that class? You weren’t supposed to...
A Guide to the Bran Castle Halloween Party
There are a few key events on my bucket list: perform in the parade in Rio Carnivale, throw coloured powders during the Holi Festival in India, celebrate life and death during the Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) in Mexico. But for a long time, I wasn’t sure what...
